Paper Submissions

Prospective delegates are invited to submit full papers including results, figures and references. Paper will be accepted via electronic submission through email (with a hard copy in the post) to the Conference Secretariat.

We are negotiating with the editorial staff of two international journals, Archives of Natural History (Edinburgh University Press; impact factor = 0.035) and Biodiversity and Conservation (Springer Journal; impact factor = 2.238) for publication of relevant papers from the Conference.

Authors of full paper submissions thus have the following options:

  1. Manuscripts dealing with history (including Wallacean studies, history of natural history, museology, etc) should follow instructions for authors of Archives of Natural History. See guidelines at:

  2. Manuscripts dealing with current studies (including biodiversity, environmental conservation, etc) should follow instructions for authors of Biodiversity and Conservation. See guidelines at: http://www.springer.com/life+sciences/evolutionary+%26+developmental+biology/journal/10531
  3. Other manuscripts will be published in the edited proceedings of the Conference. Please follow the guidelines for Biological Conservation. See guidelines at: http://www.elsevier.com/journals/biological_conservation/0006-3207/guide-for-authors

Abstracts should be 200–250 words in length, and include an introduction, and a brief discussion of methods and results, and should not contain citations. All manuscripts must be in English.

  1. Soft copy in Microsoft Word to the Conference Secretariat (see contacts below).
  2. Hard copy of the manuscript, with indications where text figures and tables should appear, should be mailed to the following address: The Conference Secretariat, Wallace 2013 Conference, Institute of Biodiversity and Environmental Conservation, Universiti Malaysia Sarawak, 94300 Kota Samarahan, Sarawak, Malaysia.

CONFERENCE PROCEEDINGS
Papers not considered for publication in the two aforementioned journals will be published (either electronically or as a hard copy) as conference proceedings, which will be peer-reviewed and published by Universiti Malaysia Sarawak.

DAY TRIPS AROUND KUCHING
Day trip options around Kuching are numerous, and include visits to the Kuching Wetlands National Park, Bako National Park, Kubah National Park and the Matang Wildlife Centre. Further information can be obtained from the Sarawak Tourism Board (http://www.sarawaktourism.com).
