Beadwork

Beadwork appears in many traditional items of the Kayans. More information can be obtained from the <<Handicraft Link>>.

Here you can see a Kayan girl threading beads to make a decoration for a hat. In the beadmaking class, you will have a choice of which items you would like to make. You can opt for a simple pencil holder or decoration for a hat. All materials for the class will be provided.

Making of “Panghut” – wood shavings

The tree (from the “bukan” tree) is chopped down and the bark is then removed. It is then dried before the shaving process is carried out.
