UNIMAS is located at Kota Samarahan, the administrative centre of the Samarahan Division. It is linked to Kuching City via a modern 25-km highway and is a mere 30-minute drive from the city centre.

Kota Samarahan is enjoying rapid infrastructural development to cater for the increasing population as a result of the emergence of several educational institutions in its vicinity. This “Enclave of Knowledge” is home to University Teknologi Mara (UiTM), Tun Abdul Razak Teachers’ Training College, as well as several secondary and primary schools. Housing estates, government offices and rows of shop houses have been constructed, and basic facilities such as electricity, water and telecommunication services have been enhanced in keeping up with the status of Kota Samarahan as an important growth area.
