International Student Chapter (ISC)

The International Student Chapter of Universiti Malaysia Sarawak (UNIMAS) was established to cater to the need of an international student in UNIMAS.
The International Student Chapter or ISC for short work closely with the University on Social and cultural programme, sports, Edu tourism and welfare of the international student.
The ISC represents and supports all the international students at University Malaysia Sarawak to ensure your learning and living experience in Sarawak, Malaysia is an amazing one.

Apply for visa renewal 3 months before the expiry date

Shorten

Shorten your visa once you completed your study

Inform

Inform your whereabouts from time to time to unimas global

Bring

Bring your passport with you all the time!

Avoid

Avoid misuse of student pass/visa (example: working without permission)

To provide following documents in unimas global google form for renewal of student pass/visa

Offer Letter to Study in unimas (Undergraduate)

Verification Letter from CGS (Postgraduate)

Transcript (UnderGreaduate)

Copy of Passport & Student Pass (upload to UG Appointment Google form)

Proof of Payment for Renewal of visa

General Rules and Regulations

A student must abide by Malaysian law at all times.
A student has committed a case of misconduct when:

He is found guilty of criminal charges by the court;
He is involved in any jobs, trades or the like, on part-time or full-time basis, which are deemed illegal in the Immigration Ordinance 1959 and the Immigration Rules and Regulations 1963 or other laws or that which could affect his studies.

A student is to abide by all the rules and regulations that are enforced by the institution.
A student must at all times respect the culture, norms and beliefs of the locals.

Sexual Harassment Code

Sexual harassment is defined as unwanted or uninvited sexual acts that cause discomfort to the receiver and may cause the person to feel assaulted, violated or threatened

Example:

Verbal – words, jokes, comments or conversation with sexual innuendos
Nonverbal – seductive staring, provocative lip licking, sign or body language that indicates sexual activities
Visual – showing pornographic materials, pictures, drawings or writings
Psychological – continuously repeating unwanted social invitations
Physical – indecent acts such as touching, slapping, pinching, caressing, rubbing, hugging, kissing and sexual assault

Sexual Harassment Act

The Penal Code, section 509 provides that:

"Whoever, intending to insult the modesty of any women, utters any words, makes any sound or gesture or exhibit any object, intending that such word or sound shall be heard, or such gesture or object shall be seen by such woman, shall be punished with imprisonment for a term which may extend to 5 years or with fine, or with both".

Unacceptable Social Behavior on/off Campus

Assault (Fight and Physical Altercations)
Harassment, intimidation or bullying
Hazing (endangering the physical health of an individual or as causing mental distress to an individual through, for example, humiliating, intimidating, or demeaning treatment)
