FACULTY OF COMPUTER SCIENCE AND INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY
The Faculty was established in November 1993. Set in the backwoods, away from the major IT hubs, the first task of the day was to simply "get connected". The Faculty's landmark then was a projection of a little VSAT satellite antenna dish by the window of Prof. Zahran Halim's (the founding Dean) office in late 1993.
More>>FACULTY OF COGNITIVE SCIENCES AND HUMAN DEVELOPMENT
The Faculty was established in 1994 and offers undergraduate and postgraduate programmes in Human Resource Development, Cognitive Science, Counselling through three main departments.
In terms of research the Faculty has identified three main areas, namely cognitive psychology, human factors, intelligent system and learning sciences under the Cognitive Science area. Another area is Human Resource Development which centres on human capital and development management and technology. Counselling, involves research into organisational counselling, technological and clinical.
FACULTY OF ECONOMICS AND BUSINESS
The Faculty of Economics and Business was established on 1st January 1996, in line with the vision, mission and educational goals of UNIMAS. Its aim is to produce excellent graduates who are equipped with high social skills and virtuous values in the field of economics and business as its core knowledge business, in order to support the nationals economical development to be globally competitive. This is to be achieved through the integration of contemporary and effective teaching-learning process. FEB graduates will continue to embody and refresh the role of knowledge, values, and culture of this nation through the process of lifelong learning.

The Faculty of Engineering is one of eight faculties in UNIMAS. It was formed on 30th December 1993. The faculty started off with only two engineering programmes namely Civil Engineering and Electronics and Telecommunications Engineering with the first intake in July 1994. The Mechanical Engineering and Manufacturing Programme was introduced in 1996 and the Electronics and Computer Engineering Programme was introduced in May 2000 in order to fulfill the need and broaden the range of opportunities in the world of engineering. The programmes curricular were professionally designed according to the requirements of Engineering Accreditation Council (EAC) which is in par with the evolving job market demands and challenges.

The Faculty of Applied and Creative Arts (FACA) was established in 1994 based on the university’s mission of becoming an internationally recognized institution of higher learning and the main choice among students and academicians via excellence in teaching, research and scholarship.

The Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences at Universiti Malaysia Sarawak started registering its pioneer batch of Medical students in 1995 followed by the students in the Nursing programme in 1998. The planners of the Faculty have put a strong emphasis on quality and the curriculum is comprehensive and is geared towards the total development of students and preparing them to be competent autonomous and yet able to contribute to teamwork.

Natural resources need to be exploited and utilised in a sustainable way. The growing population of Malaysia, coupled with increased demands for raw materials from industries, has a broad impact on the country’s natural resources and heritage. A deep understanding as well as prudent utilisation and management strategies are of utmost importance in striking a balance between exploitation and conservation of the nation’s natural resources. The country therefore needs to train scientists capable of utilising the latest technology and techniques towards fulfilling this objective.

Faculty of Social Sciences started its operation on 5th August 1993 at Room 529 of the Administration Building of Telekom Training School in Semariang, Kuching, Sarawak. On 2nd October 1993, the faculty moved to UNIMAS temporary campus in Kota Samarahan. Faculty of Social Sciences was one of the first two faculties to offer undergraduate academic programmes when UNIMAS started operation during the academic session of 1993/1994. At that time, the programmes of studies offered by the faculty were International Relation, Industrial and Labour Relations, Social Work, Communication Studies, Development Planning and Management, and Politics and Government.

The Faculty of Built Environment (FBE) is the 10th faculty at UNIMAS. FBE was officially established on the 1st of September 2018 with a mission to generate, disseminate and apply knowledge strategically and innovatively to enhance the quality of the nation's Built Environment practice, culture and heritage, and the prosperity of its people. FBE currently offers two (2) programs, namely the Bachelor’s of Science (Honours) in Architecture which began in academic year 2017/2018, and the Bachelor’s of Quantity Surveying (Honours) in 2018/2019.

Faculty of Language and Communication (FLC) offers a variety of Bahasa Melayu, English Language and third language courses. In addition, we also offer beginner level courses to cater the needs of international students, staff and also the public. Besides these, we have been instrumental in introducing our students to other languages and cultures through the third language courses offered under the university elective programme.

Pre-University (PPPU) is located on East Campus, Universiti Malaysia Sarawak (UNIMAS), Kota Samarahan. There are two main programs of study; Foundation for Physical Science and Foundation for Life Science.
