WHAT WE OFFER

Pre-University

Centre for Pre-University Studies (PPPU) is situated at the east area of Universiti Malaysia Sarawak (UNIMAS) campus in Kota Samarahan division of Sarawak. The centre was initially established in year 2010 to offer foundation programmes targeting local native students. In 2018, the centre began to offer International Foundation in Science program for students from a variety of academic backgrounds which includes students from outside of Malaysia.

Course Synopsis

Mathematics
This course exposes students to the importance of mathematics in science and technology through active learning activities. The course is divided into topics such as number systems, polynomials, graphing, vectors, conic sections, trigonometric and hyperbolic functions. In addition to emphasizing problem-solving, this course also inculcates critical and logical thinking skills in students.

Foundation for Life Science

Duration of Study: 2 Semesters
Entry Requirement
Applicants must be a MyKad holder and pass SPM with a minimum of five (5) credits including Bahasa Melayu and a pass in History or other equivalent qualification recognised by Malaysia Qualifications Agency (MQA).

Fulfilment of university general requirements as well as program specific requirement
Receive at least a C grade in all the following subjects:
  • Biology
  • Mathematics
  • Chemistry
  • English

AND
Receive at least PASS in Additional Mathematics:

AND
Receive at least C grade in ONE (1) of the subjects in STEM elective or Pengajian Islam elective or Kemanusiaan and Sastera Ikhtisas elective.

AND
Candidates do not have any physical disabilities (blind/deaf/paralysed/mute) that hinder laboratory work.

Foundation for Physical Science

International Foundation in Science

This program is under the supervision of the Ministry of Higher Education (KPT) and has been accredited by the Malaysian Qualifications Agency (MQA). Upon successfulcompletion of the program, foundation graduates may choose to further their studies in various bachelor’s degree programmes offered by UNIMAS.

Upon enrolling into the International Foundation in Science programme, applicant may choose either Module A or Module B. The following shows the constitution for each module:

Entry Requirement

Nationality
Malaysian Citizen
Applicants must be a MyKad holder and pass SPM with a minimum of five (5) credits including Bahasa Melayu and a pass in History or other equivalent qualification recognised by Malaysia Qualifications Agency (MQA).

Non-Malaysian Citizen
Entry requirement for non-Malaysian applicants are subjected to the University’s academic requirement as stated in the Malaysian Qualifications Agency (MQA) Entry Requirement for O-level or equivalent.

Entry to UNIMAS Undergraduate Program

Students who pass the UNIMAS International Foundation in Science Program can pursue a degree course in one of the faculties in UNIMAS.
