UNDERGRADUATE SCHOLARSHIPS

Students can apply for a loan/scholarship/sponsorship from various organizations namely Jabatan Perkhidmatan Awam Malaysia (JPA), Majlis Amanah Rakyat (MARA), Perbadanan Tabung Pendidikan Tinggi Nasional Malaysia (PTPTN), state government, statutory bodies and the private sectors. Details can be obtained directly from the respective establishment mentioned. Advertisements for the offer of loan/scholarship/sponsorship will usually be advertised in local newspaper other than listed in this page.

Student who has obtained a loan/scholarship/sponsorship for their studies at the University, they need to submit a copy of the loan’s/scholarship’s/sponsorship’s letter of offer on the registration day.

To assist students, the Student Affairs, Alumni Division (Undergraduate Student) and the Centre of Graduate Studies (Postgraduate Student) will contact the loan/scholarship/sponsorship representative from time to time for sources of aid.

 

STUDENT AFFAIRS: LOAN/SCHOLARSHIP/SPONSORSHIP UNIT

This unit is responsible for assisting students during orientation week in matters pertaining to loans, scholarship or sponsorship. It acts as an intermediary that disseminates information on loans and sponsorships to new students, and supports students in obtaining them during their study period in UNIMAS by way of :-

  • Giving information concerning applicable loan/scholarship/sponsorship
  • Assisting students with documentations to ensure smooth application progress

Main functions:

  • Organising meeting sessions for both sponsors and sponsored students from time to time
  • Coordinating activities organised by sponsors for sponsored students
  • Providing sponsors with student progress reports of each semester for payment purposes

PTPTN

The National Higher Education Fund Corporation (PTPTN) was established under the National Higher Education Fund Act 1997 (Act 566) and is effective from 1st July 1997. PTPTN became operational on 1st November 1997 at Bangunan Wisma Chase Perdana, Off Jalan Semantan, Damansara Heights, Kuala Lumpur.

Sarawak State Government Scholarship

Sarawak State Government Scholarship is a scholarship for local Sarawak student who is excellent in education and curriculum. Students are offered by the scholarship to continue the studies at undergraduate and postgraduate courses in local universities and colleges.

Yayasan Sarawak

Yayasan Sarawak (Sarawak Foundation) offering Sarawak students to apply for their scholarship and education loan for continuing studies in private or public higher academic institution (local and overseas).

JPA Scholarship

JPA Scholarship is a scholarship offered by Malaysia Public Service to the Malaysian nationality who is continuing their studies at locally and overseas universities or colleges.

Yayasan Sime Darby

Yayasan Sime Darby Scholarship is open to students enrolled in full-time UNIMAS Study Programme, with minimum GPA of 3.0. Students from Faculty of Engineering, Faculty of Economics & Business; and Faculty of Resource Science & Technology are encouraged to apply.

Yayasan Sabah Scholarship

Yayasan Sabah Scholarship is provided by Sabah Foundation as a Financial Aid for students to further their studies in public/private Higher Learning Institutions. This Loan is offered to all Sabahan who fulfill the requirements set out by Sabah Foundation.

Zakat Negeri Selangor

Zakat Negeri Selangor is a Financial Aid for Malaysian's Muslim students to further their studies in public/private Higher Learning Institutions. This Loan is offered to students who was born and residing in Selangor or has resided or reside permanently in Selangor not less than 3 (three) years.

Zakat Negeri Pahang

Zakat Negeri Pahang is a Financial Aid for Malaysian's Muslim students to further their studies in public/private Higher Learning Institutions. This Loan is offered to students who was born and residing in Pahang or has resided or reside permanently in Pahang more than 7 (seven) years.

Yayasan FELCRA

Yayasan FELCRA is a Financial Aid for FELCRA Berhad members, staffs, FELCRA subsidiaries & children to further their studies in public/private Higher Learning Institutions. This Loan is offered to students obtaining minimum of CGPA 3.50 in Diploma in any related public/private Higher Learning Institutions certified by Malaysian Government. Forms can be downloaded here.

Yayasan TELEKOM Scholarship

Yayasan TELEKOM Scholarship is a Financial Aid offered to all students except TM Groups members. This Loan is offered to students obtaining minimum of CGPA 3.50 in Diploma / Matriculatuion in any related public/private Higher Learning Institutions certified by Malaysian Government. Tabung Amanah Naim Scholarship

Tabung Amanah Naim Scholarship is established as part of Naim Community and Social Responsibility (CSR) Program. The scholarship awards were introduced in 2005 and it covers full academic fees, lodging and books. The scholarship requirements are as follows; Candidates must be of age 21 year and below; Open only to candidates from public universities and other institutions of higher learning (IPTAs). Private colleges and universities are not included; Candidates with STPM results with minimum of 2As and 1B including a pass in General Studies; Possess strong leadership qualities, high scholastic achievements and notable participation in extra curricular and sporting activities; Not bonded or holding any scholarships or receiving financial assistance from any other organizations or bodies. Majlis Raja-Raja Scholarship

Tabung Amanah Naim Scholarship is offered to all excellent STPM/Matriculation students who are currently pursuing their first degree in Malaysian IPTA. The offerings are limited to a certain number of people based on the funding limit and capabilities. Most of the students offered were obtained from Jabatan Perkhidmatan Awam (JPA).

PNB Scholarship

The PNB scholarship programmes provide opportunity for students with outstanding academic achievement in their SPM to pursue tertiary education in public universities and selected private universities, as well as top universities abroad. The Yayasan Tun Ismail (YTI) Premier Scholarship Award and PNB Global Scholarship Award, provide sponsorship to selected outstanding post-SPM students to top universities in the United Kingdom and the Australia to pursue tertiary education in the disciplines that are related to the business activity of PNB such as accounting, finance, law, mathematics, actuarial science and engineering. Prior to entry into universities, the selected students are required to undertake a two-year A-Level programme. Forms can be downloaded here.

Yayasan Pelajaran Johor Scholarship

Yayasan Pelajaran Johor Scholarship is a Financial Aid for students to further their studies in public Higher Learning Institutions. This Loan is offered to students who was born and residing in Johor or has resided or reside permanently in Johor.

MARA Scholarship

MARA Scholarship is to help potentially qualified Bumiputera students and particularly those requiring financial assistance to study at institutions of higher learning in the fields of Science, Technology, Professional, Expertise and Business Management as well as other areas identified by MARA. MARA scholarship assistance rates are determined based on the conditions set by the Public Service Department (JPA) but subject to the provisions of MARA's financial situation. MARA Scholarship is dedicated for Bumiputera candidates only; in line with Majlis Amanah Rakyat Act 1966.

PETRONAS Malaysian University Sponsorship

PETRONAS Malaysian University Sponsorship is a Financial Aid for students who are studying in Malaysian public universities may also apply for sponsorship if they are pursuing undergraduate courses in Engineering, Applied Science, Accountancy, Economics and Information Technology. Eligibility for sponsorship is based on merit that includes excellent Sijil Tinggi Persekolahan Malaysia (STPM) / Matriculation / Diploma results.

Kuok Foundation Berhad Scholarship

KUOK FOUNDATION BERHAD invites applications for the following scholarships / awards from Malaysian citizens applying for or currently pursuing full time undergraduate studies in the 2016/17 academic year. Students studying diploma, off-campus, matriculation and foundation courses are not eligible to apply for the above. Submit ONE application form only. Yayasan Bank Rakyat Scholarship

Yayasan Bank Rakyat Scholarship offers scholarship amounting RM12,000 a year for Bachelor Degree and RM9,500 for Bachelor Degree with Honours to Malaysian students only. Students registered with any other scholarships may apply, but later need to choose either one of the scholarships; once this YBR Scholarship is offered to them. Expected openings period are between May & July yearly.

Bonded Sarawak Timber Association Scholarship

Applicants for the Sarawak Timber Association Scholarship must be a Sarawakian or of Sarawakian parentage (either parent must be a Sarawakian), full-time student enrolled in Bachelor of Plant Resource Science and Management. Only students currently studying in Semester 2, Year 1 will be considered. Minimum of CGPA of 2.75 and once awarded, to maintain this grade, and monthly household income of RM7,000.00 and below for two-parent income and RM4,000.00 for a single-parent income. Tenable for a maximum of 3 years (or until the candidate completes the degree, if candidate completes the degree earlier). Amount of scholarship is RM8,000.00 (Ringgit Malaysia Eight Thousand) per academic year. Bonded Scholarship with member companies of STA for 2 years. Forms can be downloaded here.

Tan Sri Lee Loy Seng Foundation Scholarship

The Tan Sri Lee Loy Seng Foundation is an educational foundation which among other charitable activities, awards scholarships to Malaysian students irrespective of their race and religion. The scholarship is tenable for the period laid down for the course of study leading to a first degree in local institutions of higher learning and will be offered on a year to-year basis based on successful results obtained annually.

Applicants MUST: be a Malaysian citizen and resident, Show financial need for the scholarship support, Fulfill the academic and other conditions required in taking up a place at University College, Obtain good academic results for Sijil Tinggi Pelajaran Malaysia (STPM) and Sijil Pelajaran Malaysia (SPM), Possess a minimum CGPA of 2.80 and above for undergraduates who are currently studying in University College, Not holding a scholarship/study loan from any other organization. ASTRO Scholarship

Education can transform and inspire people to shape a greater future for themselves, their families, their community and ultimately our country. It is with this firm belief that we established the Astro Scholarship Award for high-achieving students looking to pursue their pre-university, undergraduate and postgraduate studies. The award is available for pre-university and undergraduate studies at universities both locally and abroad, where our scholars will be assisted in terms of tuition fees, air travel (beginning and end of course) as well as their living allowance throughout the term of their study. The award is also offered for postgraduate studies at renowned institutions of learning. Various opportunities for learning and internships will be available during semester breaks and scholars will serve a bond with Astro for a period of between 4-6 years. OCBC Bank Scholarship

Established in the 1950s, the OCBC Local Undergraduate Scholarship provides financial assistance to students who have gained admission or are eligible for admission into first year full-time undergraduate studies of any course at the National University of Singapore, Nanyang Technological University, Singapore Management University, SIM University, Singapore University of Technology and Design and Bachelor of Music (Hons) at Nanyang Academy of Fine Arts. The scholarship is also opened to undergraduates of these institutions.

Maybank Scholarship

Since the inception of the award in 1972, Maybank has sponsored more than 1,000 scholars as well as provided them with employment opportunities. The scholarship awards incorporate the Bank’s CSR philosophy of ‘Growing with Responsibility’, assisting those who excel to complete their tertiary studies and pursue a career with the nation’s largest financial services group.
